At 13h10 this afternoon, Verna van Schaik emerged from a 4 hour 9 minute dive to 186m as the deepest woman ever in a cave or at altitude. Only one woman has been deeper and that was in the ocean to 211m.
She is doing very well and is resting under precautionary medical supervision until 5pm before undertaking the arduous climb out of the Boesmansgat hole. The dive was executed exactly according to plan and NO problems were encountered. She was alert and in good spirits at the surface and climbed out of the water unaided and elated
